The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents is the twenty-eighth Discworld book and the first written “for younger readers”. It’s a standalone novel featuring a new cast of characters, though it was inspired by a joke in a footnote in Reaper Man, and features cameo appearances from Death and the Death of Rats. In 2022 it became the first Pratchett book to be adapted into a feature film: The Amazing Maurice.
Blurb
Maurice, a streetwise tomcat, has the perfect money-making scam. Everyone knows the stories about rats and pipers, and Maurice has a stupid-looking kid with a pipe, and his very own plague of rats - strangely educated rats...
But in Bad Blintz, the little con suddenly goes down the drain. For someone there is playing a different tune and now the rats must learn a new word.
EVIL.
It's not a game any more. It's a rat-eat-rat world. And that might only be the start...

- The Amazing Maurice is an animated movie - and the first feature film adaptation of a Pratchett work - produced by Sky, Narrativia and other production companies, and first released in December 2022.
- The BBC produced a two-part full-cast radio adaptation in 2003. Notably this featured David Tennant as Dangerous Beans, a role he also plays in the feature film. Michael Fenton Stevens also appears in two roles.
- Penguin released a new audiobook in 2022 as part of the 50 Years of Terry new editions; it's read by Ariyon Bakare, who plays Darktan in the film. There are earlier abridged and unabridged audiobooks too, read by Tony Robinson and Stephen Briggs, respectively.
