Publisher Description
The Truth Shall Make Ye Fret is a podcast about the Discworld books and other Pratchett material. Your hosts recap and discuss each of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels in chronological order.
TTSMYF is a spoiler-light podcast: Each episode has heavy spoilers for the book being discussed, but will avoid major plot points from the novels ahead. All discussion of the last Discworld book, The Shepherd's Crown, is on hold until we get there. Because of the journey.
Further Information
Format
- Each Discworld novel is discussed over three weekly episodes during the month, each covering a specific section of the book. This is presented as a page range, as well as the first and/or last words, so readers with different editions can keep up.
- Some months feature a bonus fourth episode, discussing something timely or related to the book, like an adaptation of the work discussed.
- Standard episodes begin with a general candid chat, then a scripted introduction and any follow up from the previous episode, including feedback or information from listeners. The discussion of the book begins with a scripted recap of the section being discussed, and a quick reminder of the previous sections if not the first. If it is the first for this book, there's also a quick run down of the characters, locations and things featured in the story. After a few favourite quotes, and a count of "loincloths" and "helicopters" (or equivalents), Joanna and Francine get into the main, deep dive discussion of themes, references and other details.
- Each episode is signed off with "Don't let us detain you", a reference to Lord Vetinari's favourite way to dismiss visitors.
- Non-Discworld books - and sometimes shorter Discworld works, like The Last Hero - may only get one or two episodes, depending on their length.
