Adventures in Ankh-Morpork is an upcoming tabletop roleplaying game based on the Discworld novels and using a simple “Narrativium” rules system which encourages the use of wordplay. The game was announced on 29 February 2024 as part of publisher Modiphius’ larger licensing deal to make tabletop Discworld games. It was funded via a Kickstarter campaign which raised over two million pounds in October and November 2024.

Books

Like many roleplaying games, Adventures in Ankh-Morpork has a core rulebook, a free “quickstart” version, and many supplements which add rules or expand the world.

The books released or planned for the game so far are:

  • Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork Quickstart Guide - a free PDF which includes all the basic rules, plus pre-generated characters and a pre-written adventure revolving around a break-in at the Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons.
  • Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork Core Rulebook - the core rules for the game, including setting information for Ankh-Morpork around the time of Thud!.
  • Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork Gamemaster’s Toolkit - resources for the Gamemaster, including a Gamemaster’s screen (to hide dice rolls and notes behind).
  • Tales From the Big Wahoonie - a collection of pre-written adventures set in Ankh-Morpork.
  • An as-yet untitled “Hogswatch Adventure”, set during the events of Hogfather.
  • The Lesser Known Streets of Ankh-Morpork - compiles three stretch-goal PDF-only releases of extra setting material:
    • The Guilds - information on the various Guilds of Ankh-Morpork.
    • Lesser Known Streets - additional Ankh-Morpork locations not covered in the main rulebook.
    • Anthropomorphic Personifications - information on lesser gods and other supernatural entities not covered in the main rulebook.
  • Ankh-Morpork Through the Ages - compiles three stretch-goal PDF-only releases of extra setting material for other time periods:
    • The Glorious Revolution - for playing during the era depicted in Night Watch.
    • The Bad Old Days - for playing during the early Discworld books (roughly the era up to Guards! Guards!).
    • The Industrial Revolution - setting information for playing around the time of Raising Steam.

Since it’s unlikely any podcasts will cover the various books independently, we’ll just list all episodes about the game on this single page.

  5. This episode was a filler in which host Ben discusses recent news, including the announcement of the game, and considers what kind of game he think would work for Discworld. He’s not a million miles off the actual design...
