Rincewind is a character in the Discworld books - a failed "wizzard" from Unseen University, who is unable to actually perform magic but does have a talent for languages, a strong sense of self-preservation and the favour of a powerful god. He is the first protagonist of the Discworld novels, and appears in many of the early books, which form a sub-series. His later appearances cross over with those of the Wizards.

Rincewind also makes cameo appearances in Mort and Unseen Academicals.

Adaptations

Rincewind was also the protagonist of the Discworld videogames Discworld and Discworld II: Missing Presumed...!?, where he was voiced by Eric Idle. He is played by David Jason in Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic.
