Moist von Lipwig is a character in the Discworld series - a con-man originally from Überwald, he is caught in Ankh-Morpork by agents of the Patrician and forced to "reform", taking on the task of revitalising the Royal Post Office. He is the protagonist of his own sub-series of Discworld novels, where he is given further tasks which modernise the city. For this reason, a popular fan theory is that Vetinari was preparing Moist to become his successor.
